Custom Lapidary Services

Custom cutting, carving, briolettes, beads, matching sets & precision drilling

Some projects don't fit standard cutting categories. Precise millimeter dimensions, unusual outlines, carving, drilling, matching sets, re-cutting, or a one-off concept: we build the lapidary approach around the material and the requirement, not the other way round.

What we do

Eight ways we work to spec

From a single bespoke stone to a full production run, each project is built around the material and the requirement.

01
Cut to spec

Custom cutting

Stones manufactured to precise specifications: exact millimeter dimensions, bespoke outlines, and specialty faceted forms that standard cutting styles can't produce. We also undertake carving and engraving commissions. Work from a CAD file, a drawing, a reference stone, or a written spec.

  • Exact millimeter dimensions and custom outlines
  • Specialty and non-standard faceted forms
  • Carving and engraving commissions
  • Jewelry-specific fittings and settings
  • CAD- or drawing-based cutting
  • Sample matching, replication, and one-off pieces
  • Single bespoke stones through production runs
02
Full 3D brilliance

Briolettes

Drops cut for movement and brilliance from every angle. Ideal where the stone hangs free and is seen in the round: pendants, earrings, and designer pieces. A demanding cut that rewards experience, and one of the forms we're asked for most.

  • Matched pairs or single drops
  • Top-drilled or through-drilled for stringing and mounting
  • Hand-cut precision for consistent facet geometry
03
A window into the stone

Tablet & portrait cuts

Flat, low-profile cuts that keep weight and open a clean window into the material. Often the right call for naturally shallow rough, but just as often a design choice, letting natural inclusions, color zoning, and organic patterns become the feature rather than something to hide.

  • Maximum weight retention from flat or shallow rough
  • Large visual surface over deep faceting
  • Showcases inclusions, color zoning, and internal character
04
Consistent & calibrated

Beads

Gemstone beads produced to consistent shapes and specifications, with the accuracy that matched sets and production runs demand.

  • Round, rondelle, barrel, and custom bead shapes
  • Matched sizing across sets and batches
  • Color and shape consistency for production

Bead drilling is covered under Precision drilling.

05
Controlled & low-stress

Precision drilling

Controlled drilling with precise hole placement, planned to minimize material stress and protect the stone's structural integrity, even on hard, brittle materials.

  • Through, half, and multi-point drilling
  • Center and side drilling for beads and components
  • Mounting preparation for settings
  • Precision alignment for jewelry assembly
06
Uniform across the batch

Matching sets & production work

Consistent sets for jewelry manufacturing and commercial use, held to color and shape uniformity through our quality control across every stone in a run.

  • Matched pairs for earrings and multi-stone sets
  • Calibrated sizes for production lines
  • Color and shape consistency in bulk orders
07
Renew, restore, replace

Re-cutting, restoration & matching

Existing stones can often be improved dramatically: better symmetry and proportions, closed windows, restored polish, or an outdated cut brought up to date, all while preserving as much weight as possible. We also recreate missing or damaged stones from a sample or spec.

  • Improving symmetry, proportions, and brilliance
  • Refinishing worn or damaged stones and modernizing old cuts
  • Modifying existing stones for new settings
  • Replacement stones for lost or damaged components
  • Antique and vintage restoration; replication from a reference
08
Unconventional by design

Innovative & special projects

Some of our best work starts as an unusual idea. If a project is complex, experimental, or engineering-led, we're open to reviewing it and developing a solution.

  • Multi-stone and composite gemstone assemblies
  • Precision-fitted and custom structural designs
  • Experimental cutting concepts
  • Fused or assembled engineered gemstone systems

Frequently asked

Which materials do you work with?

We work with virtually all kinds of gemstone materials, including some that are newly discovered or not yet formally classified. Some of what we regularly cut:

How do I get a quote?

Contact us with drawings, CAD files, reference images, dimensions, or even just a concept. We review the material and requirement, advise on the most suitable approach, and quote before any cutting starts.

What should I send with my inquiry?
  • Clear photos or video of the rough or existing stone
  • Target dimensions, shape, or a reference sample
  • A CAD file or drawing if you have one
  • Quantity, and whether it's a one-off or a production run
Do you take one-off pieces as well as production orders?

Both, from a single bespoke stone to large production batches. Each project is evaluated for the best balance of design, durability, material efficiency, and appearance.

Do you work with international clients?

Yes. We work with jewelry designers, dealers, collectors, and manufacturers worldwide, and around 90% of our client base is in the USA. We handle communication and logistics throughout the project.
