Our standard

Every rough deserves individual attention

We turn rough gemstones into precision-cut, world-class faceted gems that meet the highest American & European standards. In 26+ years we've cut thousands of stones for collectors, dealers, jewelry manufacturers, wholesalers, and mining companies across the US, Europe, Australia, and beyond, and we've never treated rough as something to mass-produce.

We don't chop and rush stones the way high-volume commercial factories do. Before anything touches the wheel, our cutters study each piece, looking at its crystal structure, color zoning, inclusions, and natural shape, then plan the cut that balances brilliance, yield, durability, and value. Every stone is carefully preformed to protect weight and reach its best optical performance.

The details that matter

On every stone

The marks of a properly cut gem, and the details experienced buyers check first.

  • Correct orientation for the best color and clarity face-up
  • Accurate cutting angles, so the stone returns light, with no center window
  • Perfect facet alignment and clean, even symmetry
  • Sharp, precise meetpoints
  • A true mirror polish, with no lap lines or scratches
  • Maximum light return and brilliance

Judgment, not guesswork

How we decide the cut

When your rough arrives, our master cutters study it before cutting begins. If you've sent instructions, we follow them. If something won't work, or there's a better option, we write back before we start.

If you leave the decision to us, we don't just cut. We look at the species, the rough itself, and the current market for that type of stone, then choose the cut that suits it best and whether to aim for maximum yield or maximum beauty. That call is different for every stone. Tell us which matters more to you, weight or brilliance, and we'll cut to it.

Evaluating rough gemstone before cutting

Great gems start with great rough

Expert cutting reveals the best in a stone, but it can't create color that isn't there, remove major inclusions, or turn heavily fractured or opaque rough into a top collector gem. The finished result always depends on the quality of the rough. We'll assess your material honestly and recommend the approach that gives it the best outcome, whether that's precision faceting, cabbing, or another option, and never make unrealistic promises.

Faceting questions

How do you decide the best cut for my rough gemstone?
We start with the stone. Our cutters assess the species, crystal structure, color zoning, inclusions, and natural shape, weigh that against the current market for that type of stone and any instructions you've sent, then choose the cut and proportions that get the most from the rough: for beauty, for yield, or the right balance of both.
Can you cut for maximum weight or maximum brilliance?
Yes. Tell us which you'd prefer and we'll cut to it. If you're not sure, we'll recommend the best balance for your stone.
What types of gemstones can you facet?
We facet a wide range of natural and laboratory-grown materials. Common ones include sapphire, ruby, spinel, garnet, tourmaline, aquamarine, emerald, topaz, zircon, quartz, amethyst, citrine, beryl, chrysoberyl, peridot, tanzanite, kunzite, morganite and opal, along with rarer materials such as alexandrite, benitoite, sphene (titanite), demantoid and tsavorite garnet, color-change garnets, iolite, diaspore, fluorite, apatite and sinhalite. If your stone isn't listed, contact us and we can advise whether it's suitable for faceting based on its hardness, stability and condition.
Can I request a specific shape or design?
Absolutely. We cut standard shapes such as round, oval, cushion, emerald, pear and trillion, as well as matched pairs, calibrated sizes for jewelry manufacturing, and custom or designer cuts based on your requirements.
How do you ensure quality?
Quality is built into every stage. Each stone is cut on precision equipment by experienced cutters following detailed specifications. Before anything ships, it goes through a final quality-assurance inspection, where we check cutting accuracy, symmetry, meetpoints, facet alignment, polish, proportions and overall finish against both our standards and your requirements. Only stones that pass are approved for shipment, on every order from a single custom stone to a large production batch.
Will you tell me if there's a problem with my stone?
Yes. If we find fractures, inclusions or anything that could affect the result, we'll contact you before proceeding whenever possible. That said, some internal fractures and inclusions can't be detected before cutting, so natural gemstones carry inherent risk, and it's worth understanding that before we begin.
I got a windowed or badly cut stone elsewhere. Can you recut it?
Often, yes. If there's enough material left, we can recut it to proper angles and bring back its brilliance. Send photos and weights and we'll tell you honestly what's possible.
Can you handle large orders or bulk quantities?
Yes. We work with miners, dealers, wholesalers and jewelry manufacturers, and can price larger quantities, from single custom stones to large commercial parcels, including high-value gemstones, all cut to the same standard.
How do I get my stones to you?
Two ways: ship them, or bring them in person. Most clients ship, since it's the simplest and most cost-effective option. Send your parcel by EMS or FedEx (both tracked and insured) to our office in Sri Lanka, and we'll confirm safe arrival. If you'd rather hand them over yourself, or you'd like to see the workshop, you're very welcome to visit us in Sri Lanka.
How much does faceting cost?
It depends on the gemstone type, size, the complexity of the cut and any special requirements. Contact us with your details for a quotation.

Reviews

What our customers are saying

"

I was incredibly impressed with your ability to cut these stones for optimum beauty, artistry and clarity — especially as these were previously rejected by another cutter as too fractured to cut. Now I have beautiful faceted stones, and your prices were far less expensive. I've already recommended you to a friend.

I'm extremely happy with the results of your cutting! There wasn't much to work with in some of the peridot crystals, but you maximized everything I sent — and the smaller sizes I needed were exactly right.
